Cleaning your door jambs

Autoglym Admin August 18, 2016 Maintaining No Comments on Cleaning your door jambs

As most car enthusiasts wash their cars on a weekly basis, often the door seals and jambs are forgotten as part of the washing routine. While driving around, the seals protect dirt, road grime, leaves and other nasties from entering the interior, so it is a common area for dirt build up.

The mix of particles in the dirt and rocks can scratch the surface of your clear coat allowing the bare metal to start oxidising, thus creating rust. So it’s ideal to wash your car’s seals regularly and thoroughly with Autoglym Engine & Machine Cleaner – though this product is predominately used for cleaning engines, it’s also great at attacking dirt and grime, and is 100% safe to use on seals and paintwork.

To begin, open your doors and inspect the area around the jamb and rubber seal. Then remove any leaves that are trapped by hand or with an Autoglym Hi-Tech Wheel Brush.

Then, simply spray Autoglym Engine & Machine Cleaner around the door edges using a small brush to agitate the cleaner into all areas, give extra care to small hidden areas and gaps making sure it is thoroughly cleaned.

To remove the cleaning solution, simply use a concentrated jet hose and hose away the solution away from the car.

Finish off by wiping and drying the door jambs and seal with a damp Autoglym Hi-tech Microfibre Cloth to remove any remaining dirt.

For a complete care, spray Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care onto a Perfect Polishing Cloth and apply to the rubber trim around your car to give the rubber seals a glossy shine while creating a protective coating.
